Sergei Parajanov Museum

The Sergey Parajanov Museum was established in 1988 following the first exhibition of Parajanov's works in his homeland, organized at the State Museum of Folk Art of Armenia. It is one of the most visited museums in Yerevan. The museum showcases Parajanov's diverse literary and artistic heritage. It is housed in a two-story building in traditional Caucasian style. The museum's collection consists of about 1600 exhibits, most of which are Parajanov's works, including various accessories, collages, drawings, film sketches, dolls, hats, as well as furniture and personal belongings from his Tbilisi home, which were moved to Yerevan by his will. Parajanov was deprived of the opportunity to engage in cinema by Soviet authorities for 15 years, spending 1974-1978 and 1982 in strict regime camps and prisons. The museum also displays unpublished scripts, librettos, and various artistic works created by Parajanov during his imprisonment. The museum's exhibition includes around 700 works.
