Charbakh

Charbakh station is one of the most unique and distinctive hubs of the Karen Demirchyan Yerevan Metro, commissioned on December 26, 1996, making it one of the youngest stations in the entire rapid transit system. Operating as a separate single-track branch from Shengavit station to Charbakh, it primarily serves the vicinity of the city's main metro depot (Charbakh depot) and the surrounding residential neighborhood, providing a vital transit link to the capital's southern industrial zone. Unlike most stations in the Yerevan network, which are deep or shallow underground structures, Charbakh is a surface-level station featuring a single enclosed island platform, giving it a distinctive engineering and architectural profile. Another notable technical feature of the station is its operation via a unique single-car shuttle train that runs back and forth exclusively between Shengavit and Charbakh stations to facilitate passenger transfers. Playing a crucial logistical role for both local commuters and the metro's internal rolling stock maintenance and technical operations, this station remains one of the most fascinating and functionally specialized assets within Yerevan's public infrastructure.
