Fortress of Garni

The Garni historical and cultural complex is an ancient fortress and museum-reserve in the village of Garni, Kotayk Province, Armenia. It is situated on the right bank of the Azat River, approximately 28 km east of Yerevan, on a triangular promontory above deep gorges. The complex is known for the ruins of the ancient fortress and archaeological monuments related to the pre-Christian history of Armenia. It is one of the most famous attractions in Garni.
