Vagharshapat

Vagharshapat, officially known as Ejmiatsin, is a city in the Armavir Province of Armenia. It is known as the location of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the main spiritual center of the Armenian Apostolic Church. The city hosts the cathedral and institutions of Holy Etchmiadzin, as well as administrative and cultural facilities of the community. Vagharshapat is located about 15–20 kilometers west of Yerevan.
