Animal World of Armenia

The animal world of Armenia is very rich and diverse. The nature of our country and its high mountains have created excellent conditions for various wild animals. Our forests and mountains are home to brown bears, wolves, foxes, deer, and rabbits. Among the most famous and beautiful animals are the bezoar goat and the Armenian mouflon, which mainly inhabit high cliffs and are listed in the Red Book. The sky of Armenia is adorned with numerous birds. Proud eagles soar at the mountain peaks, while in the forests, one can hear the songs of various songbirds. Storks return in spring and build their nests near human homes, which is considered a sign of good fortune. Since our country also has hot and rocky areas, many reptiles live here. There are various types of snakes and lizards, the most famous of which is the Armenian viper. Lake Sevan and our rivers are rich in various fish, the most valuable of which is the Sevan trout. Many animals today need human assistance as their numbers are decreasing. Therefore, national parks and reserves have been established in our country, such as Khosrov Forest and Dilijan National Park, where animals are protected from hunters. We must love nature very much and preserve this wonderful animal world for our future generations.
