Herodotus

Herodotus was an ancient Greek historian and author of The Histories, a major account of the Greco-Persian Wars and the wider ancient world. His works preserve references to the quality, rich colors, and export of Armenian carpets, as noted in the supplied document excerpt. He was born in Halicarnassus, probably around 484 BCE, and died at an uncertain date.
